Happy Friggin' New Years!

I got you some sex!

With Frigg.

Since I know most of you want that.

Anyways I was hoping to have this update out BEFORE today, but clearly that failed.  To make up for that I filled in one of the "filler" Frigg scenes, so, if you're the more dominant of the pairing, you'll have a little excitement waiting for you (though note that I found, play testing that route, it's actually pretty specific to reach.  Still, if you manage it, PRIZES.  And by prizes I mean getting to use Frigg for pleasure).

Why the dominant one?  Well, because, in one of the other two new random events, you can end up in a decidedly not-at-all dominant situation with Frigg, and I figured I'd cater to both ends of the spectrum at once (note you won't be able to get that scene if you haven't had sex with Frigg yet).

Download HERE

More details and a question below:

So, anyways, new stuff any changes more precisely:

2 new random encounters, one short, the other one short unless you have Frigg along.

1 of the Frigg filler scenes filled in.

The pervasive "Event repeats" bug squashed for good (I'm pretty sure.  Turns out it was caused by me switching how a variable was increased to measure how far along the event chain you were, and so that inconsistency was causing some events to repeat.  And then, when I first fixed it, it actually caused the game to skip one of the events entirely, took me a while to figure THAT one out).

All routes involving Frigg will give you her name at least once by the time you get to the maid manor.  (In some cases twice.  The night before got a bit hazy after a certain amount of exertion)

Random events that you can get with Frigg along acknowledges Frigg being present.  Except the Farm, once more events are implemented that'll probably become exclusive to not having Frigg (though there may be an entirely different variant involving her being along later, it'll be something I'll have to write start to finish as there's just not much content I can overlap there).

Annnnd finally, since this is almost all about Frigg, there's a little question I'd like to ask anyone who cares:

I've seen commented around that some people would like to be able to romance or form a deeper bond or what have you with Frigg, and, to be totally honest, as originally conceptualized, that's not going to get very far.  Like, befriend?  Probably, much beyond that?  Ehhhh, "moderately preferred sexual partner," ain't no man tying that girl down.

Howweeevverrrrr I was considering putting in a small chance (checked at the beginning of the game) that Frigg was a slightly different character, giving a possible different result of those pursuits further down the line.  One of my friends observed to me, though, that hiding something like that behind a secret % check would be super frustrating if you were trying to intentionally see that content.  While I was mostly thinking of it as something that would happen organically in the narrative...  They're entirely right, people who wanted to specifically see that content WOULD find that pretty frustrating.

Sooo, got 3 options for you people:

1) Keep the original RNG plan.  The content will be in there, but it'll be all down to luck who sees which version.

2) Attach secret flags to some decisions that will make it so if a certain number of them are made, it swaps which Frigg you're dealing with.  This, obviously, will take some serious hunting through to do, but once people figure it out, you'll be able to scope it out when you want to, and people just playing the game normally may still stumble upon it.

Of course, my friend noted that that method kind of sucks too, so the final option is...

3)  Frigg will just be Frigg in every playthrough, and whatever connection you can get with her is just what you can manage with her base, rather self centered hedonistic personality.  This is obviously less work for me, and spares people from trying to mine for the content, since, well, it's not there.  But, you know, for everyone who was hoping to make a probable succubus cultist their ONE TRUE LOVE...  Well probably SOL.  Anyways, post here, on any of the forums, etc. etc.

Upcoming Update: Frigg update .01

Sorry for ninja vanishing, holidays and stuff came up, but I have been continuing to work on the Frigg update.  Got like 1/2 a sex scene and one "Sorry Frigg, I know you have your hand on my cock, but not tonight" scene to finish off one new encounter and the update will be ready to go live, with one super minor random event, one minor-or-slightly-less-minor event (depending on if you have Frigg), everyone getting the correct corruption scores on the way through the prologue and, mnnh... Oh right the 3rd dream actually acknowledging if Frigg is with you after you wake up.

After that, I'll be putting together the missing Frigg scenes, probably 2-ish per update, until, well, until they're done.  Then it'll be back to developing the 2nd zone now that the mid events are moderately fleshed out.

What's next?

Come to think of it, with the Status Page update having rolled out early, you guys have no idea what I'm actually up to.  Well, I'm figuring next up I have on thing I really need to settle before going full tilt on the maid manor stuff, and that's the ever elusive Frigg update.  I may release it in two sections, as it's going to be something like 5-6 scenes total, as well as edits on quite a few other passages either so that her presence can be acknowledged, or so that most of the people traveling with her will actually have learned her name in character, as opposed to just suddenly knowing it because everyone who plays the game already does.  Also, I'm working on changing up the Prologue's corruption tables, there are supposed to be very few routes through it making it out with 0 corruption, but a few of them have missed their tags and so aren't giving the points they should, so in whatever the next update is, that'll be taken care of.

But, yeah, I think that's the next main thing I'll be working on.  Especially since almost everyone I've seen comment on Frigg related affairs seems to want to always have her around.  Apparently she's popular.  For some reason.  Gotta figure it's her demure personality and humble sensibilities.

One last little bug

It turns out there is still one minor bug in 2.4.5, if you get the new dream event it can loop and run itself twice.  I'm not tossing about a bug fix for it right this instant, I have a bunch of in progress stuff on my work version of PotK and I'd have to dummy out a lot to not make it weird, but it's just a heads up for people who are playing and/or want to alert me about it.

Also, as a side announcement, since someone asked to affiliate with me, well, there's an affiliates tab up there, head over there and discover the only Affiliate at the moment is Pervy Fantasy Productions.  Check them out if that sounds like your thing.

The Update Fairy

Has come early.  Due to me still leaving a bug in the last version, you get an update, right about...  Now, but see, there's this funny thing...

It just so happens that I managed to get the status screen done last night.  Since I had it done so fast, I was going to put some extra content in, probably minor random events or something, before releasing it since I suddenly had everything I wanted for the update done early, buuuutt, well since I have to roll this out anyways, ENJOY YOUR STAT SCREEN.

As a heads up, it does track your progress through the prologue, for the most part, so you won't be able to see any of the stats that don't really apply to you at that point, but you might find a short sentence or two mentioning other things.  One or two of the endings probably need their own custom status screen at some point, but that's pretty easter egg-y so I'm not too bothered by the lack at the moment.

Anywho, enjoy your last bug squashed, and your status screen early right about:

Bugs: SQUASHED. 2.4.1 UNLEASHED

Okay, it's always delightful when you have bugs hiding behind other bugs, but after the last...  While of fiddly programming work, everything SEEMS to be functioning, I've done 4 or 5 playthroughs now, and, as a bonus, I have actually seen basically all scenes (I think I haven't tried some Frigg iterations so there may still be some issues there, but from the coding there is no reason for their to be).

Anyways, 2.4.1: HERE

Error Report

Okay, as a heads up for everyone, I corrected an error with the original 2.4 version, and, in doing so, I seemed to have broken a bunch of stuff, most significantly the ability to actually access the new content (I think, haven't tried quite enough times so it might have just been the RNG screwing me), but a big thing is the dreams seem to be firing twice, meaning 2 of the 3 events are soaked up with that, I'm going to work on trying to correct it immediately, but just as a heads up, you may not be able to access the new content until I do.  I hate it when you fix one thing and three other things break.  Anyway, TO WORK.

Tuesday, December 15, 2015

See, there's this... Thing.

And that thing is, last night, I said "Hey, I got the farm scene done, but the update isn't done."

And that was totally true.  It was totally true.  It's not anymore.  Not even a little.  Because I like you guys (and because I was pretty tired of going "Yep, here's a not-an-update, I've written Xty words and passages" every 2 or 3 days), I put in 6 hours today, and in the doing put a pretty nice 3,100 words into the game (well, and some coding.  Bloody coding).

Now what does that mean? It means I have an early Christmas present for those of you who celebrate that (er, and a Hanukkah gift for people who celebrate that?  I think it may even be the right time of year rather than early), or maybe just a generic winter celebration gift.  Whatever you like.

And that gift is:

THIS

Pleasures of the Knight 2.4 is ALIIIIIIVE, and actually pretty thoroughly playtested.  I may have missed some stuff, as while I thiiiink I hit every, or close to every, possible permutation, but there's a lot at this point so I might've missed something.  Still, you have THE FARM RANDOM ENCOUNTER, which is a giant block'o content, and a new dream, which I feel some of my...  Longer term readers might have a certain appreciation for.  Also, it contains what is now my personal favorite non sexual scene in it.

Current things of note for the new content: 1) Frigg doesn't lock out any of it, buuuut she also doesn't show up as visible in any of it either so sorry if that breaks immersion a bit.  In a while I'll be doing a "Frigg Update" to back add her scenes and her presence in some scenes.  Also 2) There are at least 2 possible routes that could prevent you from seeing the new dream.  If you get the red demon dream you absolutely cannot get the new dream, and there's a chance (though the pathing is VERY specific) that when you bring Frigg along you won't be able to get it (not due to anything to do with Frigg, just that you've met the conditions for the red demon dream, you just didn't get it because Frigg blocks auto-firing dreams, since she has her own set of auto-firing events).

Also, I've tossed in a few options in the "in progress" filler events to let you tweak your stats a bit to help you hit certain willpower w/e thresholds to get certain event variants.  And I also added a few more things to the end of game tracker and a few other, uh, "Quality of Life"? things.

Anyways, I think that's enough of my going on for now, but for those interested, the upcoming update should take nowhere NEAR as long, because it's just going to be me finally adding in the stats screen.  I may still take like a week or something while I figure the entire thing out, but, uh, that's still less than a month +.

So happy hunting, and I'll see you guys then!

MISSION (though not update) COMPLETE!

I have just finished the last possible exit passage from the farm encounter.  There are one or two things I still have to go back and check over, so it's not "done" done, but it's basically done, meaning I just have that one other random encounter I promised to finish this update.

Just for cheap and easy statistics, the farm scenes, in total, take up about 12,700 words, and 20-something passages, meaning it's about half of the, er, "volume" of the intro, and currently accounts for about 25% of the total content of the game (or at least it will when it goes up).

I'm not sure any of you care about any of that, but I feel like I need to put SOMETHING here, so, er, statistics is what I got =P  Anyways, yes, that hurdle is finally cleared, just got a little...  Additional dream sequence I think I'm going to fill in for the other one.  Something not as given to becoming OH MY GOD HUGE.  And just as a heads up for anyone looking for this dream once it's out, you can't currently get it in a route where you can get the red demon dream, but you can in all the other routes, just in case you're hunting for it later.

Anyways, that's all for now, MELPHY OUT!

Monday, December 7, 2015

Choo choo, get on the farm train.

Yep, got that right, 3 more passages and about 1700 more words implemented into the farm scene today.  There's about 6 more passages until the farm is good and done, and one or two of those should be shorter since they're basically "Yup, and now you're leaving."  I mean, I'm not going to skimp, but there's only so much to say when packing up and leaving.  Then there'll be about a 6 passage long dream section implemented which mean, mnh, getting 2-3 pages done per work day, hopefully just 5 more days of work until this comes out.  Maybe less, sometimes I get more energized when I'm on the cusp of a release (not an uncommon experience, I think.  What, innuendo on THIS weblog?  Crazy right), which might kick up my progress rate.

Oh, also, those of you who come from TFGamessite, or use that forum, I tossed up an incredibly too long question (hey, if I get to include that in the quantity of stuff I got done today, I'm up to 2,500 words!  2,710 With this post =P) for your consideration if you'd like to stop on by and look at it.  Before TL:DRing and doing something else.  Such is the internet.

Farming along

1,060 words hitting the page today, bringing the first of the two possible farm sex scenes to a close at, including heading to her room and then leaving the next day, 4,900 words (+/- like 20).  I also, some of you will be pleased to know, actually ran through a decent number of the iterations to fix broken links, some of the new code I had implemented (* is for multiplication not x, you know), initialized a few forgotten variables, and implemented all of the text I worked on today (well except the opening of going to sleep in the barn) into my "for print" twine copy.  Very productive all around.

For anyone keeping track (IE: Only me) this update is up to 7400 words, meaning it'll represent over a 15-20% increase in content when it's done, not including the additional coding and stuff.  Which I hope sounds interesting/cool/w/e or else why am I even posting this? =P

Progress... RE PORT!

Another thousand words added...  Which isn't even enough to complete the sex scene(s) with the farm girl.  Oh well, people wanted to wait, and apparently they're going to get their wish. (Ha ha ha ha... ha...)

Why only 1,000 words you ask?  Because I was implementing some code along with this joyful trip.  For example, with the first character you can have unprotected sex with now being implemented in the game, not only will the game track if your exploits have any...  Side effects, but the endscreen will now feel free to tell you who all you've given a reason to screw you over later =P

Also, on a related note (sorta), as it currently stands, the farm scene is set to be impossible to get to with Frigg in the party (because apparently all content is exclusive to not having Frigg these days? Well, it's largely that it's easier to write encounters always with another person there, or never with another person there, otherwise the if/passage splits are nightmarish.  True facts).  However, would people like it, for the moment, for that flag to be removed?  Obviously the "plot" won't make complete sense, since you'll suddenly be traveling alone, but there's actually a couple passages you won't be able to see without having pulled Frigg along since they're only available if you've had sex before and, as you might have noticed, there's a lack of other ladies available to lose that virginity to.  (obviously, there's some scenes only available if you are still a virgin.  Splits like this is why I'm bad at actually getting updates up.  CONTENT BLOAT For The...  Loss e_e)

So yeah, I mean, I, personally, am fine with having the content implemented and just having people get to discover it later, but if that sounds like "Wait, in this 7000 word update, I can only get to 5500 words!  The rest of those don't count!" I'm cool with a little "narrative jarring" this early in the alpha. (Also, that update? Going to be longer than 7000 words.  Yeeup.  I know because I have an entire additional sex scene for the farm girl to write [Yep, she got two.  In her bed or in the hay in the barn.  So that's a thing] and I'm over 5500 already.  So yeah, 4000 words?  Undersold that!)

So yeah, as usual, post a comment,er, in the comments, for more extended chat (or just to jam my thread to the top of the forums =P) you can post in my threads, which are scattered to the winds! (Or to the websites: TF Games Site, Hypnopics Collective, and Legend of Krystal, in order of activity)

Anyways, that's the news of the nation, MELPHY OUT.

A question to prove that I exist

Yes, I do still exist.  Again.  The next update has spiraled mildly out of control from two side scenes to, well, two side scenes but one of which has a 2000+ word lead in (as previously mentioned), and somehow split itself into two possible sex scenes until the one I had planned for (go feature bloat?), but you'll be getting it within the next week.  I swear to god.  (Not sure who I'm mad at there.  Either me or my story for thinking more content was a natural growth of what I was working on =P)

But, to give you people something to talk about (other than "Hey Mel, what the heck haven't you updated you lazy *BLEEEEEEP*"), in an update within a few of this, probably before the new zone is complete, I'm hoping to implement that stat screen.  It's my intention that the stats largely be "in character" information, you know, your "arousal" being tracked as "You feel calm" "You feel turned on" "You feel like you need to fuck someone as soon as possible before you go fucking mad." (Pun probably intended)  However, I was considering for these early alpha testing stages just letting you see the numbers straight if you want (especially since some scenes require things like very high or very low corruption to see for this early in the game, and there are like, two rather specific routes through the prologue that will get you a high enough, or zero in the case of one scene, corruption so you can hunt for them, though obviously the extremes will be pretty easy to detect in the 'in character' version).

So, the question is, "flavor" scales, or flat numbers, like you get at the end of your run currently?

Whistle while you wait

Okay, just about done with said over extended farm scene, and, as I said, I originally intended to have 2 random encounters up with the, er, encounter mini-update that was coming, and while I have some general ideas what I was going to do with the second, since everyone who chose to vote wanted to wait patiently, let me award your patience with, uhm, something!

Toss me some suggestions on what you would like to see as a random encounter, and it might be in the next release!  And even if it isn't, it might be added to the game regardless, so hit me with your best shot.

Delays delays delays

"Jeez, Melphy, it's been a lot more than one or two days.  What have yooooou been doing?"

I'll admit, haven't been able to focus on this as much as I'd like, there was a big Halloween party over here and even though I wasn't really a participant, I was expected to help get the house ready so...  Yay.

But honestly a lot of the delay is due to my terrible terrible writing habits.  What sort of writing habits?

Well, for example, one of the random encounters is a simple sort of stop over at a farm house (and maybe a little roll in the hay with the farmer's daughter if you're so inclined.  It's a bit stereotypical, but it's a minor event), and that seems short and simple right?  Hah!  Oh no, that's underestimating my habits.  Just getting into the building is over a thousand words, and I suspect the entire scene will easily hit 4000 all told.  And how much is 4000 in the scheme of things really?  It means that, assuming I release as soon as the scene is done, the singular farm scene will amount to 10% of the type written content (including code).

And since I've been working on Zone 2 as well, the random event update is taking a bit longer than expected.  With that in mind, do people want to wait until I have two events all done like I planned, or would you rather see the one as opposed to waiting?  Post your opinion in any of my threads or here and, well, it'll adjust what I release.

Life Attacks

Sorry I didn't get the update out quite when I wanted, real life and insomnia decided to kick a poor succubus right in the ass (and I fear I'm just not into that).  If I can get some sleep/just force it, update should becoming in the next day or two.  Er, for real this time.  If not, I may post some teasers of some future sexual content or something.

Oh, allllso, during this early phase, would people like to see some of the later game, high corruption with magical drugs and stuff, scenes just sort of slipped into the random encounter system just to see what some of that would be like?  Or would they rather stick to just seeing the scenes they actually should?  Tell me in the comments!  Or wherever else you tell me stuff about the game.

A Travel Event Appears!

Or at least, will appear.  Been working on the "Zone 2" manor, but I don't really want to be releasing it in small sections, kind of ruins the flow of the experience, in my opinion, so I'm planning on getting two or three of the random encounters you can get while traveling implemented as an aside in the next day or two just so you guys can have something new to look at while I'm getting a larger chunk of content done.

Light bugfixes

Just a few more touch ups, just in case anyone was wondering exactly how much coding there is in this game, apparently the last week or so was a great time to see it all leaking through into the text.

Anyways, just uploaded the couple of fixes up over the old version, so you can re-download 2.3.2 if you want them (and one tense problem) to magically disappear.

Pleasures of the Knight v2.3.2

Okay, after quite a bit of extra bug fixing (including some no one except me could even know existed!) I present version 2.3.2!

New in this version:

People escorted by Frigg will actually see the event (er, placeholders, sorry) that acknowledge her presence.

You should only see any particular event once per travel section.  This means you should either see a Frigg placeholder, the filler placeholder, and the quiet night placeholder, or a dream placeholder and the other two.

Finally, now both paths after meeting the maid have their first 2 passages rather than just one of them.  This is an expansion of all of 800 words or so, but eh, figured I'd fill out that "teaser" since everything else was programming updates today and those aren't THAT exciting.  (At least I don't think they are).

Also the event infrastructure and stuff is no longer secretly broken meaning that things will go more consistently and easily later!

Anyways, the link is here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/kr8u5m29kfmlbze/PotKAlpha2.3.2.html

Oh!  Extra special thanks to Megaduck of the MC Collective for being as prompt and informative with his bug reports as I was with...  Releasing still buggy bug fix versions of the game.  I appreciate the on point feedback regardless!

New Formats New Problems

Oookay, had to re-upload a new copy of the SC version, because it turns out that Sugarcane likes else if and while, while Sugar Cube prefers elseif and for.  And I had missed a few other details, but those were way less relevant.  Still, baddabing baddaboom, re-download the SC version if you got it before this post went up because new and exciting errors are new and exciting!

Good News Internet Explorer/Edge users!

Possible good news for you IE/Edge users!  With a swap to Sugar Cube from Sugar Cane, Pleasures of the Knight should not bug out so much one them!

I've had to replace a decent bit of code because of the differences between Cane and Cube, but fortunately Cube is pretty communicative about what's going wrong, so I THINK I should've got everything, but it's different enough I might have missed something, so if you notice something awry please mention it to me wherever you found the download, here or on whatever forum I've tossed it up on.

So, boom, Sugar Cube edition:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/muukd80tduaaep8/PotKAlpha2.3.12SC.html

Alpha v2.3.12 Bug Fix

This is an odd one, because it's a pretty minor fix, but at the same time entirely worthy of this update.  Why?  Because, as someone noted, it still wasn't actually possible to hit the last section of content and then see your end stats page.  It required all of deleting like 4 or 5 characters to fix...

Hoowweeevverrr, since I was doing the fix on the file I was working on, that means with this bug fix you get something like 3 or 4 full extra passages too.  It's not much, mostly just a more complete introduction to the next zone, and a peak at a few of the options you'll be given (though they generally dead end to stat pages pretty quickly).

Oh, also, I'm a touch behind my actual writing schedule because I was hideously ill yesterday so I couldn't get anything done, and other than this bug fixing, I'm not 100% sure how much I'll get done today either, still I'll try to get a more proper update ready in the next few days like I said I would.

In any case, without further ado:

Version 2.3.12

Also also: Speaking of bug fixes, I'm aware of the issues with Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge, and am currently trying to find out if there's any possible fix for either of them, I'm hoping something is forthcoming in the places I've been asking/looking, but I'll admit it's well outside my personal expertise.

Egads, a wild donation appears!

I don't have much to say today, but I feel obliged to say something, because Corinthi tossed me a donation!  And I appreciate that, so, well, uh, I'd feel inadequate if I didn't say it.

As ever, I really do appreciate the few of you have chosen to support my work, and I hope I continue to produce content that you feel lives up to what you've given me.

Back on the horse

As it were, it turns out getting back into this little project is going reasonably well for me!

Anyone who has been keeping up with the rapid fire bug fix versions will know that I've been trying to stay on top of that, but while general functionality of the current content is desirable, that's not very exciting.

So, yesterday and today I've been working on, you know, more actual content, it's what I'm pa...  Okay, no, it's what I do with my time.  Got about 1,500 words done, mostly progressing one of the paths into the 2nd section, and implemented a pair of extra functions for other systems that will be put into the game as it goes, like staying half a step ahead of that stuff.

Of course, let's be honest, most of you don't reaaalllly care about a progress report, you want to know when you're going to get NEW STUFF.  Which is a fair question.  Assuming I keep up a very high level of production and keep throwing like 5-6 hours a day at this, I'd imagine you might be seeing something within the next 3-4 days, likely the first section of both main routes of the new location, and maybe a few of the travel fillers filled in.  Not 100% promising that, that's just the ideal here.

As ever, comments, suggestions, opinions, noticed bugs, etc. etc. are all welcome, here or on whatever forum post lead you into my abode.

Version 2.3.11

Mostly just minor grammar and bug fixes here, largely for older passages (at least for the grammar/spelling stuff).  Also got rid of a bit of test code I had left lying around, which would spit out all of the events you should be getting in a row under the proper link, so if anyone ran into that, that's cleaned up now.  Also, people who brought Frigg along but DIDN'T have sex with her will now get a filler event that acknowledges that you didn't have sex with her as opposed to one that suggests you're continuing sexual relations with her.  Minor, but hey, it's there.  So, for your playing, er, pleasure?

Tuesday, October 13, 2015

So. Incredibly. Too. Alpha.

EDIT: Heads up to anyone who downloaded the file before they saw this heading!  There was a slight (but still problematic) bug in the fixed file that kept people from seeing the last piece of new content (just one page) but it was throwing an error.  It took all of 2 edits to fix, so I just re-uploaded the file to the same place with the same name.  So now the link below has even less errors!  HUZZAH! /EDIT

I'd like to apologize, one of my early players asked me "What's the new content?" and when I went to respond I suddenly had this CRAZY IDEA to actually try to run the page that connects the new content to the old content.

In doing so I found a bug that made it so none of the content on that page displayed.  Problematic, but easy to fix!

Unnnfortunately once the content WAS displayed it turned out to be an absolute nightmare of errors.  So my apologies if you were stymied trying to find new content in the last version, as an apology, have this version that actually mostly works:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/fg9c2zrpbnajyya/PotKAlpha2.3.1.html

(Or quite possibly ENTIRELY works but I'm not 100% confident in that.  I'm sure grammar issues and spelling errors still lurk in its depths, too.)

Also I updated the FAQ.  It was still saying I was working on Ghost Princess which hasn't been true for a while, and also added a question or two about my plans for Pleasures of the Knight.  (What was that?  There's no way anyone actually asked me that?  Don't worry, the FAQ page has me covered).

A Wandering Melphiess Appears!

And she comes BEARING GIFTS.

Yeah, sorry for my amazing vanishing act, real life stuff crossed with how much of a pain in the ass some of this to code got me kind of disheartened on this project for a bit, BUT I'M BACK (er...  Bitches?).

Free warning, this literally has not been playtested at all, it could very easily break horribly when you hit the new content.  If it does please tell me!  I would go through and playtest it, but if I did you might not be seeing this update for another day or two because I got stuff going on (still...  Again.  Life!  Who wants it?)

Anyways, two major scenes added (As a heads up, you can't see them if you have Frigg with you, annnd one of them is very tricky to get access to), the general skeletal structure of the event system is implemented (though it's possible for some people who brought Frigg along without succumbing to her sexual charms might get a placeholder event that doesn't make any sense, 'sokay, I know about that, I'll fix it when that stuff starts having actual content), and the introduction to the next major zone! (Which does acknowledge if you have Frigg along.  Not super exciting, but there is some alternate text there for people who really want to see EVERYTHING)

And, because I'm nice, a page that actually tells you when you hit the end of all available content.  And it's a better than my last one because it's at least mildly interesting.  Of course, none of you actually want to hear all of this nonsense, what you're really here for is...

THIS

(What was that?  Bug on the 2nd page of the game?  That's silly.  You're silly.)

Sick Days

Sorry this update is taking longer than expected, been feeling pretty awful for a while, sinus drainage and stuff, pretty gross all around.  Doesn't really leave one in the best state for writing fun sexy stuff, to say the least.  I'll work on hammering out the update as soon as it passes.

Programming.Done.Delay

Just a quick heads up, got all of my coding basically tidied away (except for a little bug testing I can't do until I have more of the actual content implemented), so I've started, uh, actually implementing some content now, I figure I want at least 3 scenes worth before I actually put out an update so...  Well depending on how smoothly things go, that could be in the next couple of days or some time next week.

Travel Update Info

Just a quick post here for those who don't follow the TF Games Site thread, the Travel system's coding is mostly sorted out, but the discussion there said people would prefer to wait for an update with a bit more actual new content rather than just, functionally a tech demo, so it'll be a bit yet for the next actual published update.  I was figuring people would like to know what's going on though, always worrisome when a weblog goes silent for long periods.

Super exciting editing work

Just a simple little release, got some editing done, both from user suggestions and my own skimming through things.  Grammar fixes, some of the sentences tidied up, will hopefully lead to a better reading experience in the places I've gotten to.  As ever, if you notice something I missed (and I give good odds it exists) just message/leave a comment/whatever and it'll get fixed.

State of the Project

A little progress report:

Currently I'm working on the Travel system for Pleasures of the Knight.  What's the Travel system, you ask?  Basically it's a way to keep the game from always having the same "right" answers, it generates 3 pseudo random events (some will always happen if their requirements are met, others are far more random), which will present additional chances for your stats to be tested and modified, and just add some variety.

Right now I'm just working on putting the coding framework in place, so the next update will mostly just be placeholders to test if the thing works at all, not super exciting to play, but I want it in place before I move on to the next scene, as back adding it would be a pain in the neck.

Slap a band aid on it

Or a few extra keystrokes to cover up what had BETTER be my last Visited() bug for a while.  I keep thinking I've searched the thing for all of my visited() calls and yet new ones keep causing me grief.  Oh well, got this one all cleaned up.

Good as my... 2nd word

Minor update for Pleasures of the Knight is go, over on the download page.  There's about seven new pages composing about 2,500 more words, mostly "next mornings" for stuff that ended with a "and you fall asleep" fade to black sort of thing.  This gets just about everything ready for the next major update, which will, unfortunately, be about 90% coding.  Still it's pretty important.

In the meantime, enjoy!  Check out the ends of routes, maybe find some you haven't done before, uh...  Tell me about obvious bug and grammar errors I missed.  You know, the good stuff.

Delays

Sorry, apparently I missed that "This weekend" target, it turned out my family required like 14 hours of my time this weekend so I had way less time to work than I thought I would.  I'll try to finish it up tonight or tomorrow and get it right out for you guys.

PotK Minor Progress Report

Just as a heads up, should be a Pleasures of the Knight update coming down in the next day or two.  It's just a little one, filling out some passages that need to be in place before I can work on the more coding intensive Travel system, but most of them are extensions or completions for scenes you can already access, so I figured I'd give them to you rather than making you wait until the coding is done.

So nothing too exciting, but, well, basically an extra passage or two for most interactions with Frigg.  Sorry those of you who don't feel like going to meet her, you'll have to wait for the travel system before much else happens for you.

A question of finances

This is sort of a random thing, but I've been thinking about it anyways.  I, personally, due to reasons, don't have a lot of personal income.  This isn't some sort of plea to try to get more people to hit the donate button, though, quite the opposite.  Pleasures of the Knight is in a very early form, and though, in terms of raw text it's kind of long, any particular play through is going to be pretty short since a lot of the text went into filling out the options than making the game longer.  Still, my last (and next) game, Ghost Princess managed to pull a few donations at about this point along its development, and its got me thinking about what is different between them (Well, Ghost Princess is a little more conventional, for starters, but still).

Mostly, I'm curious what sort of things people would like to see added/improved/etc. going forward in Pleasures of the Knight, and maybe what sort of thresholds it would need to reach to make them want to donate, even if they don't actually.  I mean, I'm sure a decent portion of it is just it's not a very extensive project yet, it's rather risky to be tossing around support for something so unproven, but as this is the closest thing I have to a job (...  Ergh, that's kinda awkward to think about), I'd love to know what my, well, consumers think I could do to make my product better.  Comment here or in the TF Games Site thread ( http://www.tfgamessite.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6155 if you haven't stumbled across it yet) if something particularly comes to you as something the game definitely needs for you to feel its earned additional support.  Or if you just have an opinion about what I could do better.  I've gotten some positive feedback, but constructive criticism is super helpful if any of you have any of it lying around.

2.02, now with actual bug fixes

So, it turns out, in my last bug fix, rather than actually fixing bugs, I created one, and hid another.  It turns out with a very casual run through, a hidden bug looks fixed, fortunately a helpful player pointed out the one that I visibly broke, so now they are both properly fixed.  As such:

Minor Bug Fix

Did I mention there might be bugs?  There was at least one that I caught, and so it's fixed.  To avoid one problematic if statement, you can download:

I LIIIIIIIVVEE... Again. Still. Whatever.

I HOPE EVERYONE IS EXCITED.

No, I expect everyone is more like "Huh?  Miss Vice EXISTS?  I thought whoever that was was just gone forever, the lazy git."

Not so, not so at all.  Due to circumstances, some related to the now missing page (if you know what it is, you know, if not, well I didn't feel like leaving that public forever), and a move, and, welll, being overambitious an update that was supposed to take weeks instead took months.  Go team me.

However, as some of you might have noticed, I mentioned an update in that previous paragraph.  IT IS TRUE.  However, as this DID take so long, I'm putting it up within like, 5 minutes of finishing it.  And you know what that means!  That's right, it's another VERY ALPHA UPDATE:

So there may be a bug or two that needs working out and likely some terrible bits of grammar oversight in it, for which I am sorry.  But it's finally UP.  And that's something I don't feel sorry about at all.

Enjoy!

Progress Report and Nomenclature

Not a ton to say, working on the next section (which, once this thing is put together, will be entirely optional, but in the next release your option will be "New content, or...  No new content" which isn't much of an option at all I think).  I'm about nine passages in, and most of this section revolves around meeting a single character who may end up accompanying you on your journey (Yay optional party members?).

At present she's prospectively named Frige, the anglo-saxonization of Frigg (Or F-r-ih-g-ah for people who aren't familiar with the original pronunciation), since this does have a rather medieval European setting, and she's a blonde (so could totally have Norse ancestors >_>.  Or something.), and leads to at least one easy joke (I mean, other than the fact that she's easy), but I'm not 100% sold on the name as of yet, so if anyone has any ideas they'd like to forward for a hypersexual kinky blonde, I wouldn't mind hearing 'em.

But yeah that's about everything so far, I just remember reading quite a few "We want more progress reports" comments back in the day during my Ghost Princess, er...  Slump.  So here.  Progress Report.  Check it.

Like a zombie hungry for SEEEEXXX... That doesn't make any sense.

I LIVE.  RUN COWARD.

*Ahem*

I have a nice heaping helping of good news - bad news.

Bad news: This isn't a Ghost Princess update.  Sorry.

Bad news Mk2: It may be quite a while before the next Ghost Princess update.  The reasons for that are kinda...  Extensive and sob story-ish so I'm not putting them up here on the main page, I'll toss 'em in a side tab or something if anyone cares.

Good news: This is a release post.

Bad news again: It's an extra special VERY ALPHA UPDATE.  I've done some preliminary checks to make sure things are obviously broken, but I could easily have missed something (and if something is...  Inobviously broken then...  That'll...  Be a shame.)

You can find the new game in that new tab you see up top.  No no, not the Tales of Woe one, that's a terrible name for a game (in this genre anyways).  It's the other new one.  Most people who liked Ghost Princess should easily enjoy the start of it, but I will admit, it's a bit...  Different thematically than a lot of transformation genre games.  Still should be a good time.  It's sitting pretty at like 15,000 words, with about, I dunno, 35 "size 11 Aerial" 11 x 8 1/2 pages of content.  Ish.  It goes through the end of the prologue, his the traaansformation, and there's one extra...  Bonus scene?  I dunno, I was going to do a bit more, but I figured prologue complete was decent for an alpha.

Hope you enjoy.
